A new facet of “impartiality” at Publika.TV

By Andrei Munteanu

According to a previously announcement at Publika TV, on September 6, after the Constitutional Referendum, at 11 A.M. I turned on the respective TV channel to learn about the Central Electoral Commission report. I was totally bewildered by the surprise, that instead of showing the presentation of the CEC report I was expecting, on the channel were showing the press conference of the communist leader V. Voronin.

I thought it could be a technical mistake and gave a call to the TV editorship, where I was told to call another number; from the other number, when I asked was told, in Russian, that on this way of showing the “last news”, the decision had been taken at some another level, and that the respective person could not be contacted because he/she was very busy.

Also, according to respective source, it was shown so because those two events were taking place in parallel and, anyway, when there is “essential” data on behalf of the CEC, they will shift. For some considerable time-span on the background of the screen were showing CEC report, without sound, and, on the foreground – Vladimir Voronin… with his „fairytales”.

Is this a new facet of “impartiality” of the media in the R.M.?

Could we get to the point of being unable to discern what is a priority, for the R.M.’s population, if it comes to choose between the CEC report and V. Voronin?
