Moldova: Filat Government gets parliament's green light for reform
On Friday, Sept. 25, the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova voted confidence in the Government of Premier Vlad Filat and approved its work program called "European Integration: Freedom, Democracy, Prosperity".
The Filat Cabinet received the support of the parliamentary majority Alliance for European Integration - 53 deputies of the 101-member legislative forum.
The new Government will have 4 deputy premiers, a state minister, and 16 ministers, of whom two will be in the rank of deputy premier. The average age of the new cabinet is below 40.
The new Prime Minister, Liberal Democratic Party Chairman Vlad Filat marked his 40th birthday anniversary last May. He graduated from the Faculty of Law at Iasi University (Romania). The well-known Moldovan man of business is married and has a son and a daughter.
Thanking the parliament deputies for confidence in him and his team, Filat stressed the members of government realize the tremendous responsibility they are undertaking.
"We have come not from an abstract world. We have been in constant touch with people. I'll never forget the eyes of the people whom I met with during the recent election campaign and who found themselves in a very tough situation. Some time ago we took a commitment to make Moldova free of Voronin and free of Communists in state power. And we have achieved this, for we believed in this. And we believe we shall build a democratic Moldova populated by free people having a future", stated Prime Minister Vlad Filat.
The new Republic of Moldova Government will be as follows:
