2 dead identified in Va. boat capsizing
Virginia Beach, Va., police say they have identified two elderly men from Arizona who died Wednesday after their boat capsized near the Lesner Bridge.
Police said the dead were Ned Rokey, 89, and Allen Dedrick, 69. Four people were rescued and hospitalized.
Water temperatures were in the 40s as police, firefighters and the Coast Guard rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call, The (Norfolk) Virginian-Pilot reported.
All of the people aboard the 18-foot boat were in critical condition with hypothermia when they were pulled from the water, officials said.
The newspaper said a small craft advisory was posted in the area, which is an inlet off the Chesapeake Bay.
The cause of the capsizing was under investigation by the Coast Guard.
