Glenn Beck TV show on FOX News Channel had a good start
Glenn Beck, conservative political commentator and radio show host, kicked off his new TV show on FOX News Channel on Monday, Jan. 19, at 5 pm.
"He's an established star, he's huge on radio, big on TV," FOX News Channel Senior VP of Programming Bill Shine was cited in an interview today. "That for us is a win-win. Hopefully we get the radio audience to follow over to TV...In terms of going up against the competition I think we're going to do very well."
Glenn Beck's TV show competes with MSNBC's Hardball with Chris Matthews and CNN's The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer that run at 5 pm.
Beck interviewed, among others, Sarah Palin, Alaska's Governor, as well as Monica Ramos and Patty Compean, wives of jailed border agents Ignacio Ramos and Jose Compean (the jailed border patrol agents had their sentences commuted today by President George W. Bush).
Glenn Beck got quite emotional when speaking about Srah Palin and her youngest child, Trig, who was prenatally diagnosed with Down syndrome.
"We have something in common", Glenn said, telling he also has a child with special needs, getting choked up for a few moments.
Sarah Palin spoke about her support to Barack Obama’s future presidency, about current economic difficulties, and the need for politicians to stay in touch with reality after being elected in office.
Beck reviled that his new TV program will bring news about the main stream America, people’s value and problems, sarcastically mentioning the mainstream media that does not always report on what is important for the regular people.
At this program, the host said, we will have “Meet the People” -- bringing news about what is important to the main stream America -- not “meet the press”, alluding to “NBC’s Meet the Press program.
"I'm doing a commentary show. It's really about my world view and how I see things come together," Beck said to NY Daily News. "I'm not going to do Britney Spears stories. I feel like we're living in important times."
Judging this premiere show on Monday, Glenn Beck TV show is going to be a great success for Glenn and for the Fox News Channel.
